The Uttar Pradesh Government denied reports that the closed-circuit TV system installed at the Taj Mahal complex in Agra had stopped functioning following theft of 51 closed-circuit cameras.

State Home Secretary Mahesh Gupta told newspersons here that the system installed at the Taj is very much in order and the CCTVs are functional. “There is no threat to the security of the Taj Mahal,” he said.

All CCTV cameras installed at the Taj Mahal complex in 2005 are intact and working properly. ADG (security) Uttar Pradesh Atul Kumar along with ASI superintending archaeologist, Agra and senior officials and members of the Standing Committee on Security of Taj Mahal inspected the entire Taj Mahal complex recently.
There were reports in a section of media that CCTV cameras at Taj Mahal complex were not functioning properly.
The team also reviewed security arrangements at the complex, a CISF release said.
According to the CISF, responsible for the security of the ancient monument, there is no security threat to the Taj.
