A production unit shooting an ad film for an international client was hounded on the Taj Mahal premises in Agra on Tuesday by a mob for allegedly portraying local guides and photographers in a bad light.
“They had been shooting on the premises for the last three days. We never raised a voice. But we came to know that the unit has filmed a shot depicting a boy, wearing the “approved guide” badge, stealing a pair of shoes belonging to a visitor and then selling it off for Rs 1,500,” According to Shamshuddin, who claimed himself to be the president of the Taj Mahal Guide Association.
“Besides, in another sequence, a photographer has been shown snatching the bag of a foreign visitor. It is anybody’s guess what such a film will portray when screened. It is not only about projecting us in a bad light but also about hurting the tourism industry in India in general and Agra in particular,” he added.
