Taj Mahal Experiences Ticketing Difficulties

Indian tourism chiefs have run out of gate passes to the Taj Mahal – and had to replace them with tickets intended for another monument, Fatehpur Sikri.
Fatehpur Sikri lies around 35 kilometres from Agra, where the Taj Mahal is situated, and is a famous destination in its own right – being the deserted capital founded by the Mughal emperor, Akbar.
A tourist named Dinesh, from the city of Patna, exclaimed to India News: “What a way to promote the Taj Mahal! They want us to vote for the Taj for the new seven wonders list. And we can’t even take back the entrance ticket as a souvenir because it has Fatehpur Sikri printed on it.
“A faint rubber stamp of the Taj Mahal is there, but surely a monument like that deserves a much better, more attractive and genuine entry ticket.”
There is already controversy over the ticketing scheme for the Taj Mahal – with foreigners typically charged up to 36 times as much as Indians to gain entry to the famous site.
